Payment Extension Plan

(Fine Hearing)

The Ottawa County Municipal Court Payment Extension Plan gives defendants the opportunity to make interest-free payments to the Court when the balance is not able to be paid in full at the time of sentencing.

Rules

  1. If you have unpaid fines and court costs, you must appear (IN PERSON) the first Friday of each month at 9:00 am in the main courtroom until your fines and costs are paid in full.
  2. OR you may appear the Thursday before fine hearing (IN PERSON) and pay a minimum of $50.00 to the clerk’s office. This will continue you to the following month’s fine hearing.
  3. OR you may appear the morning of fine hearing (IN PERSON) and pay a minimum of $50.00 to the clerk’s office. This will continue you to the following month’s fine hearing. YOU MUST DO THIS BEFORE 9:00 AM.
  4. If you do not appear in Court, a letter will be sent to your last known address. You will have two weeks from the date of this letter to have your fines and court costs paid in FULL.

Failure to appear in Court for a scheduled hearing is contempt of Court and a bench warrant may issue; and may be punishable by up to 30 days in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.00. Driving privileges may also be cancelled through the BMV.
